Terms of Service

Last updated: May 15, 2026

By using Spark you agree to these terms. They're written to be short and plain. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

Your license to use Spark

Spark grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the app on devices you own or control, for your own work as an electrician, apprentice, estimator, inspector, or student. You may not redistribute the app or its content, scrape it in bulk, or resell access.

Spark is a reference tool — not a substitute for the NEC

Spark summarizes the National Electrical Code (NEC) for quick field reference. It is not the official Code, and it is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). The National Electrical Code® and NEC® are registered trademarks of the NFPA.

You remain solely responsible for compliance with the actual, published NEC and any state, local, or jurisdictional amendments. Always verify Spark's answers against the published Code and the requirements of the authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) before making installation, design, or inspection decisions. Spark and its operators accept no liability for code violations, work rejected by an inspector, injuries, or damages arising from reliance on the app.

AI-generated answers

Spark uses AI models to answer plain-English questions and to interpret photos you upload. AI answers can be wrong, incomplete, or out of date. Treat them as a starting point, not a final authority. The app cites the NEC sections it relies on so you can verify yourself.

Acceptable use

Account termination

You can delete your account at any time by emailing ryan@motifai.ai. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, attempt to abuse the service, or are inactive for an extended period. We'll give reasonable notice except for safety or security reasons.

Changes to the service

Spark is under active development. Features may change, be removed, or be moved behind a paid tier. During the beta, the service is provided as-is with no uptime guarantee.

Disclaimer of warranties

Spark is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Spark and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, or loss of data, arising out of or related to your use of the app — even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which the operator is domiciled, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Specific jurisdiction will be finalized before general release.
